This album bursts forth with an immediately recognizable purity. Comparisons will be made, it’s what happens. But they only serve to reduce this band, and its effort here, to some kind of lazy and half-colored cliché. While it can be argued that there isn’t much in the way of broken ground on To Travels & Trunks, to discount this as simply following in the well trod footsteps of their predecessors is to miss the beauty along the path.

Yes there are horns and handclaps. There are sweeping and grand arrangements, with choral accompaniment, all touching those emotional peaks we want from our music. Hey Marseilles work flawlessly to bring all those elements together, taking a deluge of material and presenting it for what it is; music to piece together, inside you. Fitting these glorious sounds into whatever corner that will accommodate them.
