When Your Heartstrings Break starts with a deliriously bright burst of pop. From there, the layers build upon themselves like a confection hell bent on cavities. The sugar induced coma, however, never arrives. There is too much charm and smile here for that. And plenty of substance.

Despite the shimmery, sunny flow of what Beulah presents on their sophomore release, there is something much deeper at work. This isn’t merely a shiny pop record. The band brought in eighteen addition musicians to capture horn and string heavy instrumentations. The expansive snappy pitch of these songs will easily sweep you up in their summertime vibe.
